Epic beer tour of Southern Germany’s iconic beer towns, breweries, beer halls, and Springtime celebrations of Frühlingsfest. A perfect way to enjoy the cultural and beer-related offerings of Bavaria. We’ll start our seven nights in Munich at the festival that is referred to as the “locals-only” Oktoberfest.” We’ll venture into the Bavarian countryside for a world class monastic brewery. Then we’ll depart Munich for villages and cities of Regensberg, Bamberg, and Nuremberg, visiting a mix of unheard of local small-town pubs and world famous brewing institutions. Full Itinerary:

Day 1 – Checkin Fruhlingsfest & Group Dinner
We’ll hit the ground running at Fruhlingsfest. Hosted every year on the same exact fairgrounds as Oktoberfest, this festival is smaller than the fall festivities, but features the same charm: carnival games, tasty bites, and of course, beer.
Day 2 – Day Trip with Mini-Hike
One of the worlds oldest monastic breweries awaits us just outside the city. We’ll take local transport out to the countryside (a popular getaway for the locals), and enjoy lunch and beers with the monks. Upon returning to the city we will visit some Munich’s youngest breweries before wrapping it up with dinner at one of the cities iconic beer halls.
Day 3 – Pack the Van, We’re Going to Beer School
We’ll head out early in our private car hire en route to Regensburg (one of the regions many hidden gems). On the way we’ll visit one of the most prestigious and influential brewing institutes in the world for a tour and lunch. We’ll have enough time in the evening to explore Regensburg and enjoy dinner.
Day 4 – Bamberg Night 1
The smoked beers and Unesco Heritage site that is Bamberg itself await us. We’ll take a slight detour en route to enjoy lunch (and locally made beer) at one of the 200+ small family breweries that line the countryside.
Day 5 – Bamberg Night 2
We’ll take advantage of the full day in Bamberg with a bit of free time, a walking tour, and dinner with some of the best views of the city (and great beer of course).
Day 6 – Nuremberg
We start our return to Munich with an overnight pitstop in one of the region’s most surprising gems.Nuremberg is a lovely blend of medieval charm and university town energy. We’ll enjoy a walking tour, some free time to stroll the town, and dine with the witches at the foot of the castle.
Day 7 – Caves of Nuremberg & Return to Munich
You can’t leave Nuremberg without exploring its caves, and it’s beers, a bit more. We’ll enjoy our last lunch in Nuremberg before heading back to Munich via train, where we will wrap our tour with one final dinner together at one of the breweries working the hardest to disrupt the historic beer monopoly in Munich.
Day 8 – Farewell Breakfast & Checkout
We made it! Unless your travel plans take you away too soon, we’ll join for one more coffee & snack nearby our hotel. We can all say our farewells to our new family of German beer loving nerds!

You should expect to walk 8,000-12,000 steps a day on average. Free time and rest are built into the itinerary, but there is a lot to cover, and much of it will be by foot.

Pack smart. Public transit & trains are the best ways to see a country. We’ll take in the sights & enjoy the world class train travel that Europe is known for. You will be expected to be able to carry your own luggage.

Our 2023 Belgian Beer-Cation was a blast! George did all the homework so we could simply relax and enjoy all the wonderful beer… The breweries we visited were top of class – many of the beers we tried are often listed as a must include for a Desert Island 6-Pack.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

This was my first trip to Belgium and first real foray into Belgium beers. My experience could not have been better. The lodging locations were excellent… George found terrific places to eat and of course the beer was amazing. Highly recommend this tour and will consider doing it again in the future. Thanks again George for making this a wonderful adventure.
