Best of Belgium Beer-Cation - 7 Days Tour
The Best of Belgium Beer-Cation is designed by and for lovers of culture, history, beer, and gastronomy. We’ll start in Brussels with visits to some of the world’s most iconic sour beer producers, modern craft beer joints, and local taverns. We’ll leave the city for the medieval streets of Bruges, where we’ll take in the scenic canals, world class cuisine, and meet up with our local guide to learn more about the cities rich past. From there we will head onto Ghent, the often overlooked medieval city with a more modern flare. Our last full day will include a private van pickup so we can enjoy lunch at one of the world’s most famous and mythical beers en route back to Brussels for our final evening together.

Full Itinerary:
Day 1 – Checkin 1st Brewery Visit & Welcome Dinner
We’ll meet at our hotel at 2:00pm, and get right into the action. We’ll take a brief stroll around our hotel and grab a small drink to kick off our time together with a proper cheers. Next we’ll hop on a short train ride to 3 Fonteinen for a brief visit before heading back into the city for our first meal together. Here we can start talking about food pairings, and get to know each other more.
Day 2 – Cantillon & Brussels Beer Fest
The world class beer and the learning starts right away. We’ll start with a morning walking tour followed by a visit to a well loved deli in the center of one of Brussels coolest neighborhoods. Then it’s back to the beer with a visit to Cantillon. We’ll have dinner at one of Brussels most modern craft breweries, then return to the center for the Brussels Beer Fest located in the iconic Grand Place.
Day 3 – Goodbye Brussels, Hello Bruges
After checkout we’ll head straight to Bruges via train. We’ll enjoy lunch at a cute family owned restaurant, take a quick rest before our guided walking tour, and end the night with dinner at one of the cities best restaurants before we sneak in one more night cap at Bruges coolest beer bars.
Day 4 – Huisbrouwerij De Halve Maan & Train to Ghent
Enjoy a bit of free time in the morning before we meet for lunch and a brewery tour with the best views of the medieval city skyline. We’ll then grab our bags and head to Ghent via train. We’ll enjoy a bit of free time to explore before dinner.
Day 5 – Full Day in Ghent
Take advantage of the free time to explore everything this hidden gem has to offer before we meet back up for a walking tour and dinner at one of my favorite craft breweries in Belgium.
Day 6 – Westvleteren, Rodenbach, & More
We’ll checkout early and meet our private van for our trip to the harder to reach southern region of Belgium. Here we’ll enjoy a warm lunch at In de Vrede (the cafe where the best beer in the world is served). Then we’ll head to Rodenbach for a tour, and make our way back to Brussels for our final meal together at my favorite restaurant in Brussels.
Day 7 – Farewell Breakfast & Checkout
We made it! Unless your travel plans take you away too soon, we’ll join for one more coffee & snack nearby our hotel. We can all say our farewells to our new family of Belgian beer loving nerds!
You should expect to walk 8,000-12,000 steps a day on average. Free time and rest are built into the itinerary, but there is a lot to cover, and much of it will be by foot.
Pack smart. Public transit & trains are the best ways to see a country. We’ll take in the sights & enjoy the world class train travel that Europe is known for. You will be expected to be able to carry your own luggage.
Our 2023 Belgian Beer-Cation was a blast! George did all the homework so we could simply relax and enjoy all the wonderful beer… The breweries we visited were top of class – many of the beers we tried are often listed as a must include for a Desert Island 6-Pack.
Rating: 5 out of 5.
This was my first trip to Belgium and first real foray into Belgium beers. My experience could not have been better. The lodging locations were excellent… George found terrific places to eat and of course the beer was amazing. Highly recommend this tour and will consider doing it again in the future. Thanks again George for making this a wonderful adventure.
